Sudan head coach Zdravko Lugarisic claims that Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah was his first choice for the FIFA #TheBest awards but he was shocked to find out that his vote had gone to Lionel Messi.
Salah finished fourth as FIFA released the full voting results for the Best FIFA Men’s Player award.
Messi claimed the award, after collecting 46 points, with Salah’s teammate Virgil Van Dijk (38) coming in second place, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (36). With 10 points less than Ronaldo, Salah came in fourth place and was followed by his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane with 23 points.
In the official sheet released by FIFA showing the votes from national team captains, coaches and the media, Sudan coach’s vote went to Messi, Van Dijk and Mane, however Zdravko Lugarisic claimed he voted for Salah, Mane and Mbappe . He took a screenshot of the voting form and it has been attached below.
