Etebo Completes Move To Getafe But Faces Visa Delay
Getafe have completed the loan signing of Nigerian international Oghenekaro Etebo from Stoke City. Reports however claim he is facing a delay in his acquisition of an entry visa from Spain’s embassy in London for him to complete the deal that will enable him play on loan at Getafe until the end of this season.
The Spanish side are holding up an option to turn it into a full transfer. It marks another tentative steps towards the realization of Etebo’s new deal, as Getafe had earlier hinted that the agreement will not be made official until the Super Eagles’ star passes a medical on arrival at their base, where he is expected spend the remainder of the campaign.
Etebo joined Stoke from Feirense in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £6.3million and has played in 51 matches, scoring twice.
The Warri born midfielder who was a revelation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where experts believed he would have got a better club deal elsewhere, had he not signed for Stoke before joining the Eagles’ camp, has not starred for the English Championship side since October 22, when he played for only 21 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday.
He aims to make the best of his return to La Liga, having previously also spent time on loan from Feirense at Las Palmas during the second half of the 2017/18 season, before making the move to Stoke, where he ended up playing 51 matches and scored two goals.

Atletico Madrid Considering Involving Partey And Oxlade Chamberlain
New reports emerging reveal that Arsenal’s hopes of signing Thomas Partey have suffered a blow, with Atletico Madrid reportedly wanting to swap the midfielder for Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Partey has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks but Atletico are uncertain whether the Gunners would be able to afford his buy-out clause, which stands at £45million.
As reported by The Sun, Atletico are eager to bring in Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool in a straight swap for Partey.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 34 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions this season as he has bounced back from the injury problems that hindered him in previous campaigns. Liverpool are unlikely to sanction the departure of Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose current contract at Anfield is set to run until the summer of 2023.
The England international’s ability to play out wide or as a central midfielder makes him a useful part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Shanghai Offers Ighalo Whopping N190m/Week Offer To Stay
Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo was offered a deal worth over N190m ( £400,000) to extend his contract with Chinese Super League (CSL) club Shanghai Shenhua.
Ighalo temporarily left Shenhua in January 2020 to join Manchester United on loan until May 31 although it is likely to be extended until June 20 because of the coronavirus crisis. The 30-year-old striker has been impressive for Manchester United with four goals in three starts and eight games since he joined.
Odion Ighalo joined Shenhua in February 2019 and his current contract expires in December 2022. Playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football seems to have added to Ighalo’s worth and Shenhua want to keep him and reward him with a two-year contract extension.
According to Sky Sports, the Chinese side are willing to pay the Nigerian over N190m per week before tax if he agrees to extend his stay with the club. This offer is another option for Ighalo who according to a report is also likely to receive an offer from Manchester United for a permanent deal.
Although United’s deal is expected to be way lesser, the draw of continuing to play for his boyhood club might be too much for Ighalo to ignore. Ighalo’s current contract expires with Shenhua expires in December 2022 and the club wants to keep him until December 2024. The ex-Super Eagles striker joined Shenhua in February 2019 from another Chinese side Changchun Yatai.
Brazilian Club Botafogo Keep Tabs On Mikel Obi
Botafogo are banking on experience from Europe in front of the start of the Brazilian Série A, which has been postponed until further notice for now.
After things did not work out with Yaya Touré, John Obi Mikel – who recently became a free agent – emerged as a prime target for the spot in central midfield now, as Brazilian media reports.
“Yes there has been interest and yes there has been negotiations. But I don’t know yet. I am still thinking about it. Not sure yet,” the Nigerian is quoted.
ESPN and Yahoo reporter Jorge Nicola broke news about talks between Mikel and Botafogo first. Globo Esporte confirmed them shortly after. Both parties are understood to be close to an agreement in general – the spreading of the coronavirus pandemic in South America is currently preventing a deal, however.
Mikel is on the market for free since mid-March. The 32 year old played for Trabzonspor most recently. After Turkish football was reluctant to postpone matches for a long time, Mikel voiced public criticism. The club from the Black Sea coast terminated the contract with the Nigerian midfielder as a result.
Liverpool Eyeing Move For Arsenal Sensation Bukayo Saka
Liverpool could be making a move for Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka this summer but the Gunners are planning to rebuff all interest this summer if he rejects a new deal. This is according to Football Insider.
The Premier League leaders have been alerted by the performances of the versatile left-sided ace, 18, following his almost instant impact for the Gunners first team. An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that the club are working on tying Saka to a new five-year deal to replace his current agreement, which expires next year.
Talks have been on hold during the lockdown after an initial offer was made to the Nigerian born teen earlier this year. Arsenal intend to hold Saka to his contract even if discussions continue beyond this summer and into the final year of his contract, as now seems likely.
Liverpool Move For Bukayo Saka and recruitment team have been hugely impressed by the youngster’s development this season. He fits their favoured recruitment model of an upwardly mobile talent who has already thrived at senior level and has best years way ahead of him.
Saka has emerged from the Gunners youth ranks to establish himself in the first team and delivered a series of eye-catching displays. Able to play left midfield or on the left side of the defence, he started nine of Arsenal’s 11 Premier League matches before the season was suspended after leapfrogging Saed Kolasinac and the injured Kieran Tierney.
Saka, who has just 13 months left on his contract, has made 12 league starts among 29 appearances in all competitions this season and has 3 goals and 9 assists.
